For teachers, this app provides easy access to the Secrets for quick reference in online lessons. It also has the feature of telling the stories for you. Please note that screen-sharing or mirroring to other devices is not supported due to built-in IP technology.
For parents and kids, this app is an excellent tool for learning and playing with the Secrets to support reading and writing at home. It goes beyond just practicing phonics skills and actually teaches them using trademarked, brain-based stories. These stories explain the sounds letters make when combined and include pictures to aid in remembering for reading and writing. Secret Stories is perfect for learners of any age, whether they are just starting out or struggling with reading.
One of the standout features of Secret Stories is the Better Alphabet Song, which uses muscle memory to help kids master individual letters and sounds in as little as two weeks. At the same time, they also learn the "grown-up" reading and writing Secrets that help them make sense of letter sounds in words.
For example, did you know that AU/AW are a couple in love? When they stand together, they get so embarrassed that they always say, "Awww" (e.g., saw, August). Or that T&H don't get along and stick their tongues out at each other saying, "Thhh!" (e.g., the, this). Secret Stories even covers tricky letter combinations like ER/IR/UR, which are depicted as terrible, awful, horrible drivers that always slam on the brakes, making an "Errr!" sound (e.g., her, bird, turn). There are even sneaky letters like Y, who steals the sounds of /E/ & /I/, but only uses them at the end of a word where he thinks no one will notice! (e.g., yes, by, mommy)
With Secret Stories, there's no more need to resort to vague explanations like "It just is...It just does...You just have to remember!" when trying to explain the complex sounds of letters. Now you can simply share the Secrets with your kids!
